Sonnet 45
- In sadness, in dying, a wait to saturate,
- The hope and abundance that floats around,
- Bleeding a life hollow, better off late,
- Manifest destiny’s colorless clown.
- In crying, without tears or remorse,
- The relationships that have withered away.
- Leaving a life following no course,
- With neglect, full divorce, alone and astray.
- In biding, in writhing, a default frown,
- A lackluster display of all emotion.
- Solemn and sloth, a silent devotion,
- Drowning a life wanting to drown.
- In redemption, in struggle, in trial, awake,
- Conspiring a life with breaking’s boundless break.
Notes
This came out rather quickly and easily. Not terribly happy with the connective tissue between metaphors in the same stanza, but needless whittling won’t get me closer to any literal goal. Just posting this for the sake of posting something online.
