Sonnet 42

  • In this brief glimpse of things
  • This brief tiff without things
  • A tinge of duck shit
  • A bit that sings
  • A session for jazz talk
  • A moment to marinate
  • A component of clarity
  • A proponent of sanity
  • A swirl of remnants of leaves
  • Meant to meet with meanings
  • A taste of feelings
  • Rinsing the reigns away
  • Oft is the present of progress
  • The most being made in stillness

Notes

Out in New York at a spot called "Tea Drunk", drinking some super expensive "duck shit" Ya Shi Xiang tea, having just left a very engaging, lengthy conversation with an old internet friend wherein she came up with the term "jazz talk" to describe how we tend to meander through and riff off eachothers' thoughts. Great way to describe things. And I had to reflect on that conversation, and the many that happened the few New York nights before.

I also lost my phone the night before this piece so I had little ability to distract myself with the immediacy and pseudo-realtimeness of all the things that your phone (and therefore the internet) can provide. Was nice, felt free, felt idle, felt absent from everyone else's lives but a bit more present in mine.
