Yo, I'mma go posting the nonsense that treads through my head during the endless nights when I'm uninspired in bed, teetering between quiet, unwound and dead, opting to write here instead with some digital No.2 pencil lead. Yes, I am an expert rhymologer, ya heard?
I have a lingering fear that I am no longer capable of writing a sonnet. The words have stopped coalescing the way they used to. And I’m not sure whether that’s such a bad thing.
I’m only 26 :/. I got time… I think.
Heh, so I’ve written at most, 85 lines of stuff that sort of resemble verse since my last marination, 80% of that having been composed in the past two weeks. Its been a sad situation…
But the good news is the momentum is picking up. I just wish the lines were all in perfect iambic pentameter so I could throw something up here. Oh, and they should make some sense too.
In an attempt to spur insight, eloquence, and a jolt of inspiration into my otherwise mundane existance, I will begin a music fast tomorrow (sort of). I will only listen to Radiohead if I’m able to control my aural surroundings (clubs/bars exempt). That includes when I’m on the train, walking around downtown SF, inside Starbucks, or singing in the shower.
I’ve done this twice before about a year ago with 2Pac and Sufjan Stevens, for about 2 weeks each, which was interesting. Not sure I gained much from it, at least not perceivably, but change is always good and my right ear finally healed from this nasty middle ear infection/ruptured ear drum I’ve been going through the past week and half.
So huzzah! I hope this spurs some momentous works that’ll get me over this writing hump.
and I don’t have one sonnet to show for it. Well, none ready for public consumption.
And to pile on the customariness (my new favorite word) of such occasions, turns out I’ve had this site for just over a year (registered the domain on March 1st, 2006) with the site and first marination and sonnet going up later the next month (April 23rd). That makes tomorrow the one year anniversary of the site launch.
Am I doing/writing anything to mark the occasion?
Nope. Anniversary celebrations are reserved for greater things.
So the sonnet count is at twenty one. If I continue at this rate, I’ll be about 73 years old by the time I finish the proposed one thousand sonnets (I’m 25 at the time of this post, and an old 25 at that). I hope the internet is around for that long.
my soul hurts.
